Many experience cravings during the quitting process: maybe physical discomfort, agitation or constantly thinking about cracking there resolve!! STOP RIGHT THERE!! REALITY CHECK..OK lets be honest when you quit ANYTHING you’re always gonna have cravings for it, and it’s simply because you’ve trained your body in that way! Good news however as millions of people will tell you, in the same way you’ve trained your body like this you can untrain your body! Believe me, you can!!!
During that initial quitting stage it’s gonna be a real pain in the ass to deal with sure, but I promise you if you hang in there and stick it out…. sure it might be unpleasant for the initial period but if you can stick it out you’ll be clear of it. Also be warned that our brains (due to fear ) can subconsciously work against us falsely making you think the cravings are never going to go away and you’ll go mad if you don’t smoke.
CRAVINGS ARE LIKE AN ANNOYING CAT?
When I was trying to quit I read somewhere that giving in to craving is like feeding a cat that stands outside your house constantly meowing / bugging you to feed him/her. i.e. If you feed the cat you’re pretty much training and teaching the cat “if you meow, i’ll give in” and the cat knows this and the they will come back the next day & most every day after that. (sounding familiar?) However if you don’t feed the cat, it may really increase it’s efforts in MEOWING continously PRETTY MUCH GOING NUTS!!! but after a while it’ll get the hint, bother someone else and leave you alone in peace.
The morale here is do what you have to but DO NOT give into cravings as by doing so you are much the same teaching yourself (as you did the cat ) that you are susceptible and the more you give in to them (again like the cat) the more they will come back.
So yeah be strong people, you’ll win because of it… I know it’s hard, but I’m the most weak willed person you’ll ever meet and I did it! hahah seriously though, trust me if a fool like me can anyone can.
